Hennepin derives from a bridge and street that share the same name in Minneapolis, MN. It is a serif font comprised of three agile weights: regular, light, and extra light. The character set contains typical OpenType features in addition to small caps, and old style numbers, but most importantly, it embraces stylistic alternatives that unite and complete this font.

The discussion got me thinking about poster lettering we hadn't yet made into fonts, and a particular sample from a Jimi Hendrix poster I had played around with but never finished making into a font.

A geometric three dimensional catalog poster design with three individual outlines individually drawn outlines to create multiple solutions with layers and filters. Hemmings requires subjective display kerning and compensation.

Once upon a time (a.ka. 1984), there was a Goth band who called themselves “Hemingway’s Shotgun.” As a symbol of his commitment to this band, the bass player acquired a tattoo of a shotgun on his forearm.
Unfortunately, this tattoo wasn't very well drawn: the barrel was much too short, and was much thinner at one end than the other. The tattoo rather resembled a small, cordless, rechargeable hand-held vacuum cleaner.
Thus, the band “Hemingway’s Dustbuster” was born.
